Jersey Sport’s ‘HSBC Let’s Ride Pop-Up’ returns this weekend with cycling fun for all the family!

Tuesday 21 September 2021

Jersey Sport are delighted to announce their first HSBC Let’s Ride Pop-Up event of the year will be taking place on Saturday 25 September 2021, from 10:00 – 12:00 at Les Quennevais cycle track.

The free event is a perfect way to enjoy some time together as a family on your bikes, with the cycle track at Les Quennevais providing a safe and friendly space for cyclists of all abilities to ride at a pace they wish, as many times as they want. Cyclists are reminded to please bring their own helmet and bike with them on the day.

During the morning you will be able to enjoy an Alley Cat Challenge (scavenger hunt) for all ages, a pedalling obstacle course, bike safety checks, HSBC Breeze rides (for those who wish to try the rides out) and for younger children, there will be a separate track area specifically for balance bikes (please bring your own balance bike with you).

For those who would like to try out our HSBC Breeze rides for the first time, please bring your own bike and helmet. The rides are scheduled to take place at 10:00-10:45 and 11:00-11:30 with our qualified HSBC Breeze ride leaders.

The Cycle Without Limits centre, based at Les Quennevais cycle track, will also be offering all riders an opportunity to come and look at the different adapted bikes they have on offer during their inclusive cycling sessions. There will be an opportunity for riders to register at the pop-up event, to attend future Cycle Without Limits sessions, and each rider will have the opportunity on the day to take 1 lap around the cycle track, to test out the different adapted bikes on offer.

Islander Nick Ozouf, who has been using Jersey Sport’s Cycle Without Limits Centre since it first opened in October 2020, will be taking on a hand-cycle challenge during the pop-up event! Nick aims to complete 26 miles around Les Quennevais cycle track to mirror the distance of the London Marathon, to raise funds for the Cycle Without Limits Centre and Acorn.

Please come along to support Nick with his challenge from 10:00! It is anticipated it will take Nick about 28 laps to cover 26 miles 385 yards, which is the marathon distance.

Cirsty de Gruchy, Head of Move More Jersey said, “We’re delighted to be able to hold our HSBC Let’s Ride Pop-Ups again at Les Quennevais cycle track, with the return of events on the island.

It’s set to be a great morning, with a fantastic atmosphere – so if you love cycling, or are interesting in getting more involved with cycling, this is your opportunity! Please register before attending – we look forward to welcoming you!
