James Tilley

Interim Head of Operations

Role within Jersey Sport: To lead the development and implementation of the charity’s strategy related to the operations of the organisation, including central support services and people development. Lead on safeguarding matters as a designated safeguarding lead. To mange the charity’s main partnership with the Government of Jersey.

Previous employment before Jersey Sport: James was previously the Racing Operations Manager at the Royal Yachting Association (RYA)/ British Sailing Team.

Employment history: James’ career started as a coach and he has over 10 years’ experience of working within one of the UK’s largest national governing bodies for sport. His background includes club, association, coach and volunteer development, working with government funding agencies, international logistics, resource and policy management. Most recently James was responsible for the British Sailing Team’s strategy development and associated funding bid, securing multi-million pound investment. James was a volunteer at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

High level/sports related qualifications: James has a degree in Mathematics and is a level 2 racing coach in sailing.

Hobbies: James is passionate about sport and being active. He has competed in and coached at a high level in sailing and particularly enjoys cycling, windsurfing and exploring the amazing Jersey coast and countryside.
