Martine Le Guilcher

Swimming Development Officer

Role within Jersey Sport: Planning and delivering high quality school swimming programmes in all primary schools to ensure all pupils have the opportunity to reach recommended standards by the end of Key Stage 2.

Previous employment before Jersey Sport: Prior to her appointment with Jersey Sport, Martine was the School Swimming Coordinator with the States of Jersey. Martine has over 10 years’ experience as a swimming teacher, when she started as a level one swimming teacher at SwimEasy Jersey and Swimrite Jersey. She then moved on to teaching at Aquasplash Jersey working with children from the age of 6 months all the way up to adults. She was then appointed as School Swimming Coordinator in 2014.

High level / sports related qualifications: Martine is a qualified Level 2 swimming teacher, level 1 water polo coach and an aqua aerobics instructor. She is also qualified as a judge one for Level 2 and Level 3 swim meets.

Hobbies: Martine is a member of the Jersey Long Distance Swimming Club and loves to sea swim during the summer months. She swam around Jersey in 2004, aged 15, in a time for 10 hours 23 minutes and 31 seconds. Martine has a degree in Marine Biology and Coastal Ecology from Plymouth University and in her spare time loves to work on different conservation projects around the world.
