RunTogether

Our FREE Move More RunTogether programmes are aimed at people who have never run before, or need support to get started or continue on their running journey

Our programmes are not about speed!  We are here to help and support you at the start of your journey and we don’t mind if you walk, jog or run.  The idea is to get you used to running in a fun and supportive environment and by the end of the period be able to run or run/walk either 20 minutes or 5K.   

The sessions will progress gradually to give your body time to get used to running and you should only aim to run, or run-walk, at a pace which is comfortable for you (conversational running) and not focus on speed or distance initially.  Pushing your body to run faster than is necessary when you’re starting out will only increase your risk of injury.  

You do not have to be fit and athletic when you start on our programmes all you need is the ability and motivation to get outdoors and put one foot in front of the other.  

It may help, if in the lead up to starting our sessions, you take regular brisk walks of 10-20mins, 3 x per week – but if you don’t manage to do this, don’t worry, you’re still welcome as long as you wear a pair of trainers and a smile!  

WHO RUNTOGETHER IS FOR?

  • Anyone over the age of 16 years old 
  • People who have or haven’t run before and need support to get started on their running journey 
  • People with lower physical ability, long-term health conditions and who would like to try jogging or running as a means of being active 
  • Anyone looking to make new friendships – our jogs and runs are sociable, so great if you enjoy the company of others

OUR RUNNING PROGRAMMES

RUNTOGETHER GET ME STARTED

A FREE 8-week programme starting from being a complete beginner, taking you to being able to run or run-walk for 20 minutes continuously.

Group runs take place on Thursdays at 18:00, from 16 September – 4 November 2021. Meeting point is La Fregate Cafe.

GET ME STARTED – BEGINNERS COURSE

 

COUCH TO 5K

A FREE 9-week programme aimed at beginners, taking you to being able to run or run-walk 5k.

Group runs take place on Wednesdays at 13:00, from 15 September – 10 November 2021. Meeting point is La Fregate Cafe.

COUCH TO 5K – RUNNING COURSE

It’s important you follow the Get Me Started
and Couch to 5K running schedules outside of our weekly group sessions, to progress and get the most out of our group sessions to  complete the programme safely.  We also recommend you do some regular yoga, stretching or cross training between scheduled run days – but remember it’s also important to have rest days too!
 

OUR RUN LEADERS

All our groups are led by Move More Jersey volunteers who are qualified as British Athletic Leaders in Running Fitness.

  3. We suggest you download the free RunTogether runner’s app for IOS or Android so you can book more easily via your mobile
