New HSBC Guided Rides launched for adults

Tuesday 29 September 2020

Following the success of HSBC Breeze Jersey guided rides for women, Move More Jersey are launching HSBC Guided Rides for adults – aimed at anyone over 18 years old who would like to build up their confidence riding a bike.

A range of cycle rides at varying difficulty levels are on offer, starting this week, from easy going, to steady and challenging. The rides are all free and take in different routes around the island, often stopping to incorporate a coffee stop en route. The social side of the rides are just as important as the physical side.

Sue Fox, CEO, HSBC in the Channel Islands and Isle of Man said: “HSBC Guided Rides are a great way for people to come together in a relaxed cycling environment whatever their ability.  Many islanders have enjoyed cycling during the last 6 months and these rides offer a fantastic opportunity to carry on into the winter months.”

Catriona McAllister, CEO at Jersey Sport added, “We’re delighted to expand our cycling offer to include HSBC Guided Rides and extremely grateful to HSBC for their generous sponsorship. The launch of this new programme aligns to the Government of Jersey’s Inspiring an Active Jersey strategy and we will continue to encourage more people to cycle and to commute to work on their bikes.”

HSBC Guided Rides were supposed to launch in February this year, but were delayed due to COVID-19 and not being able to bring the experienced ride tutors across to Jersey to train local ride leaders to the standard required.

The first steady Guided Ride will be taking this Thursday 1 October, starting from Old Station Café, St Aubin’s Bay at 10:00, with the next steady and challenging rides taking place on Saturday 3 October at 08:30. Cyclists are reminded to please check the weather forecast before heading out and to dress appropriately for the weather.
